in reply to: Mission too large in AW2

Yup.
I’ve also just tested the map and I get a “mission to large” error too.

It is because the map is made on the borderline of memory usage for JO:TR so it can just manage to load there.
So like ennio pointed out, it will not be able to do that with expansions or mods that offers more content.

Only way to make it work with AW2 is to remove or replace objects in the map to lower the memory usage.

in reply to: PLOOP – correct syntax to keep lag to a minimum

Thanks for sharing.
I’ve also noticed a bit of lag on one of the halflife maps  – I thought it might had to do with my machine but it could very well be that as well.
Great info to know for map makers 🙂

Thanks for your message. It usually comes up with that message if you are trying to join a map that is not compatible with Advanced Warfare 2. Like an IC map.
Try joining a map that has “AW2” in the map name and see if that works 🙂

in reply to: AW2 and JO Combined Arms
We have tried to solve the problem with Combined Arms Gold but unsuccesfully.
You will have to purchase another version. Links are below.
It’s important to stress that it is only Combined Arms Gold and not Combined Arms that has the problem.
The versions that are compatible with Advanced Warfare 2 are:
• Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising
• Joint Operations: Combined Arms
Im just gonna copy and paste the text below from the download section. It’s easier 😉

What do I need to play AW2?

It’s simple and easy.

• AW2 is for free and always will be – but you need to have Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising or Joint Operations: Combined Arms installed first. See below where to get it.
(Joint Operations: Combined Arms Gold does not work with AW2)
• Download and install the AW full version  v.4.40 and then the AW2 update v4.41
• Enjoy!

Where can I buy Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising?

Amazon or Ebay starting usually at only 3$.
Note: The Steam store currently only has the Combined Arms Gold edition and that does not work that we know of.

in reply to: What is best – MED vs NILE?

Hi Bloodhound

I  think that the learning curve is easiest with NILE and it is a “what you see if what you get” map editor with the 3D view.
It is easy to place objects and move them around.
With that in mind, it is easy to put them together and create custom buildings or structures that players can move around on.

In MED with only the 2D view that is much harder to do and requires more testing ingame. MED has a steeper learning curve but you can take advantage of more advanced events as it is integrated more with the game. If you are not using those events, then I’d recommend newbies to start with NILE and make your first demo map. 🙂

Hi Junior_BR

Thank you and thanks for your idea!

I think there is one but I can’t remember the name of it. It is made by Richard Martins, who is also from brazil, and who got inspiration from Call of Duty.

I’ll think about what was the name and post it 🙂

Hi Evilkiller

Welcome to the site!
We’ve usually just used teamspeak or ventrilo for talking with each other while gaming.
We’ve never used ingame communications other than using the chat function once in a while 🙂

You basically need to teleport them to the vehicle using ssn2ssn with ssnuse inside a loop.

I can find the code on my stationary computer but it wont be up before a 1-2 weeks. Can you wait that long? 🙂

Hi Shaun.

It’s not possible to attach a statonary gun to a vehicle.

Vehicles comes equipped with guns from the start ie 50cal, grenade launcher, minigun etc.

If you want the aircraft to hover from the beginning of a map, a trick is to put a fence 90 degrees beneeth it or a “hidden wall” and remove it after 20 seconds when the aircraft has spun up.

If the aircraft is for bots only, you can use an AIP to add a new ammo type such as the flak ammo but it is for bots only. 😉

Let me know if you need more assistance.

Hi Wolf

It’s great to have you here once again and thank you for the complements. I’m happy with it too.
Sorry that you slowly faded out with gaming but as with many things in life, they happen in cycles so I think some day you will eventually return to again. You simply can’t resist hehe 😀

Have a great weekend.

Hi Shogun.
That sounds awesome. Any new maps are welcome, small or big. Looking forward to it 🙂
Hi Captain, looks good. I am glad there are still people coming here and playing JO/AW2. Funny, how there are a few people, thinking its my fault that there are so few people left playing this game, because, and I quote, because I introduced some people back then to Insurgency, especially (as it appears) the map makers. I wasn’t sure if I would be angry about a statement like that, but in the end I had to smile. JO & AW2 already had a lack of people a long time ago, there weren’t even so many Map makers that actually made maps, to even get people away from this Game or making maps for it. Not to mention, that its people’s right to try out other things and if they prefer that, they just play that or create content for that game. Chief-C is the only map maker that really stuck with Insurgency, and the last I know he is now working (officially) for the Developers there, because believe it or not, he makes actually money from that and so can live. You know, priorities. So, to those that think that its my fault, there is a “bite me” and “lol“, take your pick. 😉 I recently switched to MacOSx, and not really play anything anymore. I got other priorities in my life by now, but who knows, maybe I get JO working on MacOSx (not that it would take much to get JO running). 😉 A big shout-out to Cap here, for his continued work on this fine Mod. Makes me feel nostalgic again. Its good to see, that there is still a place for AW2 on the Internet. Cheers Wolf
Thank you Wolf. That is really nice to hear! 😀

in reply to: How do yo get translucent water?

Hi there

Oh it’s been a while since I fiddles with that.
I think it depends a bit on the terrain of what configured in it.
Try a few different ones to see if there is any diffence. Try not to fiddle around with the water settings as it usually is not always successfull.

Alternatively, if you have NLH “Niles Little Helper” I think you can adjust it there.
Hi Captain and all, Congratulations with this shiny new nicely looking home of AW2. It’s very cool to see there is still a community around Joint Operations. After all it’s a 13 year old game, and (fair to say?) abandoned from Novalogic a long time ago, later sold to THQ Nordic. Today JO shows signs of wear but still holding up. I feel very nostalgic looking at Kutu Arms Market and Surga Mtn. Overwatch. What made the game so great was all the nice people in the community. We had loads of fun scrims with clans all over Europe. At the time even Novalogic was responding. I remember emailing directly with president Lee Milligan and they were very supportive and appreciating the feedback. Captain and team have put enormous amount of time and energy into this mod and launching this nicely looking site in 2017 only show his dedication and continuous support. Truly amazing! Keep up the good work, and to end with a quote from Mr. Milligan, “May all your wars be virtual”
Greetings Janni

Thank you for the kind words and welcome to the new site! I’m glad you like it.
Im happy you’re here and hope to see you a lot 🙂
