hi all i wonder if there a problem to do sound in the maps .by me some time its work then not
There is a limit to what format the sound it. The worse the quality the longer wave file you can have.
As I remember it, it needs to be in 8bit 22khz mono .wav file for a good quality and you can up to 1 minute or so.
If you need it to be longer, you can always cut it up into multiple pieces and play it one after another using wac.

in reply to: Do you know where to find "Smugglers Hideout" map?
I appreciate people looking for this map but that is not the map I was looking for. It is smugglers hideout not the other. I also would like to know where any map download sites are. I got the top fifty but there are maps I cannot find. If we could find a patch that would let us play IC maps using AW2, that would open thousands of maps we all could play on AW2 servers. Just a thought. If anyone want to reply to me directly, my email is thewad@gmail.com
Hi TheWad

There are several map sites out there if you google “Advanced Warfare 2 Joint Operations” and head to the sites that has a download section. I found a few for your here

Maybe we should add that list here to the map download section so more people like yourself can find more maps 🙂

To answer your other question regarding IC maps using AW2.
Yes that would be fantastic because as you say it would open up a lot of maps as well, however the main problem with that is that the Novalogic engine has a limit of how many assets you can put in the game without crashing it. An asset limit meaning memory limit.
Meaning amount of weapons, characters, buildings, foliage, decorations, vehicles that needs to be loaded into a map before it starts.
IC has reached that limit on its own and AW2 has as well in order to preserve compatibilty with maps for Escalation and Delta Force Xtreme.
The thing we have also experienced in AW2 is reaching compatibility with Escalation and Delta Force Extreme maps is that the maps made for those extensions of Joint Operations, have been made with within the memory limits of that particular expansion.
So if you load the same map in another expansion that has more assets in it by default, the map might not load properly.
Usually at the end of the loading of the map you will get an error before entering the map.
You may have seen this already before in connection with other maps.
So that is problem with that.

Have a great evening 🙂

All the best
Captain

I believe you have to set them to team 2 if you are making a COOP map.

Also when you are in NILE, check out their help section. They have some of the mapping basics covered there.

I can also recommend to also checkout this excellent tutorial by Brad G 🙂

Has anyone had to start the AW2 Launcher 2 times in order for AW2 to run?

This started happening to me (and other players) about 6-9 months ago. I am thinking a windows update has caused this to happen.

Any ideas?
Hi Captain,

thank you for your answer 🙂 How did you do that for AW2? I know, if there’s a .MIS File, you can change it with the Editor…..but how to change it for NPZ/NPJ Files or BMS without a MIS-File?

Cheers

Hi Ennio,

Your are welcome. You can use a HEX editor to open the file and change the name.

all the AW2 Stock Maps are renamed like “AW2 – xxxx” or “ESC – xxxx” – how can i do that for non Stock Maps? I would like to be able to have my Favorite (non Stock) Missions in Line with the Stock Maps. Is there a Tool for renaming Maps? Changing only the File name doesn’t help…it seems i need to change Title within the File.

Hi Ennio

Yes you are correct. You need to change the title in the file as the game uses that to display in the map list 🙂
I guess it was about time I intro myself and say ‘Hi’ to you all.

I am AKA: BlueSky and have been a JO fan since 2008. I have been in and out depending on the cycles of life. We had a squad, =TJO=, and had a great group of very nice, respectful players. I miss the comradery frankly.

One of my team mates turned me on to AW and it been my mod every since. Very nice work. Congrats and thanks to all involved.

I’m happy to hear that you had such a great time with AW 🙂

in reply to: Why did you remove characters?
in the original version of the game has cool characters and you removed, should add and do not remove
Hi there

The answer is simple,
The game is build on a game engine that does not have endless memory. So you can’t add endless characters to the game without compromising the memory usage of the game for loading maps for example.
We tried the first option in the earlier beta versions of AW, where we had the original characters and then added new ones on top of that.
But what we quickly found out was that, the more characters you add the less memory you have for the game to run stable.
Since AW2 had to be compatible with Joint Ops Typhoon RIsing and Escalation maps, we had to make sure that they would still run despite if we add more things. So when developing the mod, its all about balance. Otherwise you will get those famous “out of memory” errors with certain maps and sometimes you see strange errors inside the game.
So keeping that in mind, we decided to modify the old boring characters that all look the same, into some new ones that resemple more the different environments that you can encounter in AW2 like urban and city environments, jungle and deserts and black ops and snow. I hope you will enjoy them 🙂

in reply to: Deleting maps?
Is there a way to delete maps that came in the AW2 download? These maps do not show up as npj or bms as separate files but must be internal to something.
Hi TimberWolf

It’s not so easy to remove them.
If you want to do that, you have to open the localres.pff with a pff tool and find the npj, npz and bms files in there and remove them.

Hi

The way it works is in the old way where you can get health from a medic, or if you are down you can be revived by a medic.
There is not consent that you need to approve, you will just get it automatically.
Hello Everyone – Red Dog here, not sure if anyone remembers me. Captain might…… Anyway not sure if anyone would be interested but I was digging around on an old buffalo drive and found 50 plus AW2 CoOp maps from the years gone by. Most of the maps are from an old buddy of mine Chief-C and we use to make maps for the Thundering 3rd Clan. I also found some other valuable information including the AW2 Loading Screen Template for use with Photo Shop that I was inquiring about in a different post. I am not sure how I could share the maps & tools I have. I would like to get back into AW2 and making maps but I am not sure if this game is even still alive. Currently I am playing DFX2 which has many players but AW2 has so much more to offer with map making.
Hi Red Dog,

Yes I remember you, nice to see you here,  welcome to the new site 🙂

That sounds great about the maps. If you want to submit maps to us, you can find a link in the maps section or go to it directly directly: https://awmod.com/forums/topic/how-to-submit-a-map-to-us/

About the AW2 Loading screentemplate if you go to the downloads section, you will see that we already have it there. Thanks anyway 😉

People still love to get new maps, that is what we can see on the facebook page whenever maps are published. So you are more than welcome to get into AW2 maps again, and as you rightly put it, there are really many cool things to play with when it comes to mapmaking.

All the best

in reply to: Hello AW2 ers
Hello to everyone out there. I’m not used to using forums to speak to people, so I’ll do my best. First off my name is Eric, better known as Coopzilla or Coopzilla61. I’ve been on or with AW2 for a good long time now and I think this is the best game out there, or add on, whatever. LOL. Also, I’m a Disabled Veteran, 100%, so having this game is as important to me as life itself. And if anyone out there is house bound like I am, you know what I mean. I’d like to thank everyone for all their expertise in creating these maps. They are the best, bar none! Although I don’t have a lot of experience playing on-line, so my experience is limited. So I have a few problems with the game for the first time ever, and I wanted to see if someone could give me a hand with it. I’m sure it’s probably an easy fix, but it has eluded me thus far and it sucks. So if anyone can give me some help, maybe The Captain, or whoever, please let me know. It would be greatly appreciated. You can reach me through here of coarse, or my email at coopzilla61@yahoo.com. The game has run fantastic for years, but when I applied the updates to it, everything changed, including my resolution for some reason. Plus the med-mode isn’t working either. So again, if you can help me, please do so I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, Eric Coopzilla
Hi Copzilla

A big welcome to you. I’d love to help you with your problems for the game so we can fix it.

About the installation of AW2.

1. First make sure you have installed Joint Operations Typhoon Rising or Joint Operations Combined Arms.
(Notice “Combined Arms Gold” does not work with AW2 because its a different installer. )
2. After that you download and install AW2 4.40 full install found here on the site https://awmod.com/downloads/
3. Then you download and install the latest update 4.41 in the download section as well
4. After that, you should be good to go 🙂

Let me know how it goes and if you encounter any errors. About the resolution of the game, we can look at that afterwards 🙂

Yes thats right. So far we havent found a way to play AW2 properly with CAG. So everyone is recommended to install CA or only Joint Operations Typhoon Rising.
