NILE: Coop beginner tutorial for JO:E /JOTR

Hello Captain.

I am just getting started in map making. I did see the other links you provided and have mad a DM and a TDM map. Now I want to wade off into COOP maps which of course means writing Boolean script.

I tried the link to “dfbarracks” to get the tutorial by Brad G for NILE, but that site is no longer found. Do you know anywhere else that tutorial and any other can be found. Specifically towards writing the script for the AI. I built a map and placed AI’s. Unfortunately they are all conscientious objectors and refuse to fight back, even when being shot at.  😀

Sorry for being so needy, but I’m retired now and got a lot of time. So… 🙂

That’s awesome that you want to start getting into COOP mapmaking, it’s fun.
Ah yes I see. Really a shame that they closed the site down.

Anyway since you are new to COOP maps, Id recommend to start by using NILE and its build-in scripting.
It’s enough to make BG’s go to vehicles, make them go to a waypoint or make the vehicle go on a waypoint route.
To make Team 1, the players win, after they have destroyed something or many things.

You can then simply open up the wac file to see the code being generated.
Granted it’s not the most optimized code but it works.
You can then learn how it looks like so you know next time what to write by hand.
