AW2 – TFR Raid 3 – The JiaLou House

On September 14th 1993, during a visit to the Italian compound, the security detail of Col.Mcknight spotted a figure that resembled Mohammed Farrah Aidid, who seemed to be(come) nervous and left after seeing the Americans. His brown Landrover was followed by an OH-58D reconnaissance helicopter who confirmed the suspicion, and traced it to a compound near the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Based on the real life Task Force Ranger 1993 Campaign mission (Operation Gothic Serpent) in Somalia, but never mentioned or used for Delta Force:Black Hawk Down

Mission

1. Insert by MH-6 Little Bird/Black Hawk and secure a small compound (where the helos land)
   
   
2. Find any intel documents inside
   
   
3. Destroy any weapon crates you find inside the target building
   
   
4. Capture enemy clan leaders (triggers by eliminating resistance)
   
   
5. Defend the target building from counter-attack until it is safe enough for the Black Hawk to extract your team & prisoners from the rooftop
   
   
   
   

Notes:

• Lose conditions removed, helos and civilians indestructible
  
• Spawnpoint at target building automatically becomes blue team after insertion
  

Historical Fact:

Historical fact: approximate location is 2°02’24.5″N 45°20’37.3″E on Google Maps and the helo route/city scape towards it (compressed and simplified due to memory limits) has been duplicated within the AW2 MED to resemble actual Mogadishu, from airfield to target area.

This mission was originally a hit on what turned out to be a friendly target, thankfully with no casualties, but it did show how scarse and fleeting good intel was in a hostile country with little intel/assets to rely on.
In hindsight it turned out to be an Aidid-look-a-like called General Ahmed JiLao, just like Aidid another police chief from the President Barre regime. The other prisoners were members of the friendly Abgaal clan. The location in the city should have tipped the CIA off.
