I’ve been having fun with the various night lighting objects, and currently use Full Environment at Midnight. However, that damn moon is very strong and picks out desert terrain very brightly. So I’m asking which environment file is recommended for the blackest night, without moon.

All you have to do is: select an environment file; set time to say 02:00; save your project; check the result in the game.
Repeat these steps for each environment file and you will have your answer right there.

Well obviously.
I actually found the answer in a much more simple way, and now I know what is the blackest night you can get.
But I’m keeping it a secret.
Thanks for being so extremely helpful not.

It’s much more rewarding if you find your own solutions, isn’t it? Apparently you have learnt something new, that’s great!
You only needed someone to provoke/remind you that you can answer your own question! That’s Plato’s theory of Reminiscence in a nutshell.

I think you misunderstand the concept of “Reminiscence.” One cannot have “recherche du temps perdu” if one has not experienced them in the first place.
If we did not share our knowledge, but left everyone to fend for themselves, then we would still be living in caves wondering if there was anything outside, and there would be no point in having message boards, nor technology to host them.
I suggest you now go to your safe space and have a good cry, snowflake.

Schlechte Luft!
You have never read Plato and have no clue at all. Illiterate barbarian.

I am not taking credit for Plato’s theory of reminiscence at any point, yet you assume that his theory is MY theory…..
Plato is not an empiricist at all. You assume he is and that assumption is not based on rationalism but is rather a highly emotional response out of frustration about your mental incapacities to grasp some simple concepts that have been around for well over two millennia.

I only referred to Plato hoping to lighten you up but you only get more butthurt. It was supposed to be very funny, but you are too stupid to appreciate the joke here.

Hi @indioblack,
I did some testing today since I myself was in need of a similar environment file, and came up with a few you could use (not necessarily in the presented order), albeit perhaps combined with fog to block out last bits of light:
AW_hype (add fog)
AW_jisp
AW_rate (add fog)
Bfm_23 (probably the darkest of them all, perhaps add some fog to perfect it)
I will continue my (re)search and update this post. I hope it helps people

Thank you. That is useful information and very kind of you to supply it.
I wish you well with your further research.

Okay @indioblack , I combed through all environment files and only two came up as darkest:
bfm_23 (possibly add some fog)
full07
*Note: fog fills up empty space starting from ground up, so little fog only âcloudsâ the ground & horizon. The more you compromise in terms of visibility, the higher it goes until the sky itself is covered too. So fog distance between 1000-500m I guess ? No less, or the sky will blur too (unless thatâs what you need; then add lower number).Next up in order of brigtness would be:
AW_hype (possibly add some fog)
AW_jisp
AW_rate (possibly add some fog)
Other environment files are simply too bright and donât require night vision goggles.
I hope this information helps
