A question about waves if I may:
-I would like to add war ambience sounds to a WAC file;-they are meant to play every so-many seconds (probably uneven number of seconds to prevent predictability);
-they are meant to alternate/play in a shuffled manner;
-each sound is meant to play once, then silence, then the next one in line, etc.
*I tried simply omitting “if never()”, but that merely caused the wav to repeat itself over and over again, until the next one started after a period of seconds, and then thát sound played over and over again.
*I am guessing it has something to do with variables, but since I am a novice, I am reaching out for help on this one.
Please & thank you for any help, everybody

No matter; I will find a way around these issues.
Thanks again for your help and patience, Captain. That goes for testing and re-uploading revised maps too…

Thanks Captain, but many of those commands in that thread do not specify whether they work in single player or coop. Some didn’t work at all as I tried them in both map types, such as playerfired(#), ssnSeesSsn, ssnTargetSsn to name a few.
For example: when it comes to mortars and their (audio)visibility for players (other than for hosts), I’m not chancing it anymore. Instead, I put a badguy and a mk-9 grenade launcher on an invisible wall up about 200m in the sky above the player, simulating a mortar attack as it fires, rather than risking hearing players complain they can’t hear/see the mortars but they are flung through the air as they die.
Same with ssnSeesSsn: instead when group reaches status red alert, it would be similar to seeing the enemy I guess. In many cases there are ways around the problem; I just don’t understand the availability of some WAC commands while they don’t even work. It’s confusing and disappointing for mapmakers…

As an alternative for WAC mortars I have been thinking about using a bg in a (mk grenade launcher or tank) turret high up in the sky, firing constantly or with intervals to simulate mortar attacks. I hope this information helps others too

@coopwarriors: a follow-up question if I may…
The ‘Ammo-rain’ WAC command (rain ammo down near player) is said to be only visible for the host, or so I have red in the WAC command thread.
But what about your script from a few posts back, were mortars are raining down in an area rather than near the player? Are the mortars visible for the host only with that script as well?
Thank you for your time and comments, @coopwarriors or anyone else

Could not get it to work. I am thinking this is a Black Hawk Down WAC command for a game (engine) for which the eyes of bots were able to move independently. Oh well, sorry yall

@Red Dog (or anyone knowledgeable on the subject), would you happen to know whether:
-the bots from that helicopter ‘attach’ to that tower through the ‘find&use ssn’ feature?
-they merely detach from the chopper, which makes it look like they grab hold of the wired tower?
Please and thank you for a response

Okay @indioblack , I combed through all environment files and only two came up as darkest:
bfm_23 (possibly add some fog)
full07
*Note: fog fills up empty space starting from ground up, so little fog only ‘clouds’ the ground & horizon. The more you compromise in terms of visibility, the higher it goes until the sky itself is covered too. So fog distance between 1000-500m I guess ? No less, or the sky will blur too (unless that’s what you need; then add lower number).Next up in order of brigtness would be:
AW_hype (possibly add some fog)
AW_jisp
AW_rate (possibly add some fog)
Other environment files are simply too bright and don’t require night vision goggles.
I hope this information helps

Hi @indioblack,
I did some testing today since I myself was in need of a similar environment file, and came up with a few you could use (not necessarily in the presented order), albeit perhaps combined with fog to block out last bits of light:
AW_hype (add fog)
AW_jisp
AW_rate (add fog)
Bfm_23 (probably the darkest of them all, perhaps add some fog to perfect it)
I will continue my (re)search and update this post. I hope it helps people

Thank you so much, Captain.
I will give that a try and post my findings for others to use

So if I may bring up the subject again of the use of mortars in AW2: I haven’t seen this since Black Hawk Down/Team Sabre. Could someone expand on the WAC information/commands needed to create mortar attacks and how to properly type these commands? I would love to learn more about this. Please and thank you so much all

My (JO dedicated) youtube channel for anyone who’s interested:
https://www.youtube.com/@_Just_George
Thusfar I’ve created both Game Music Videos or GMVs (JO content accompanied by music) and hybrid walkthrough/action movie videos.
The videos with music are related to military history such as Operation Enduring Freedom. More to come…

Thank you,sir. It’s been a while since I came across a place to hang out I could call ‘home’.
Insomnia is a funny thing, but then again: so is inspiration. For example: right now I can’t sleep, but as I’m awake I think of new ideas for my video which is slowly taking shape, so I guess even when you lose, you win…I can always hit the sack again when I start to nod off.
Creativity in whatever form has always been a great help to me in every stage of my life. Mapmaking is just one form, but the one I enjoy the most at the moment. Without wanting to get all serious (which is not what AW2 is about – I know…), I predominantly like the covert/stealth/black op stuff, but I also remember a time when I played the snot out of Command&Conquer:Red Alert which involved all branches of the military and often was pretty straight forward warfare, so that’s good mapmaking material as well.
I can’t think of any game thusfar that has a map editor and so many possibilities like JO has had, eventhough some would call the graphics dated compared to Medal of Honor for example, the game is nevertheless still played 20 years later and I prefer it over anything else.
Thanks again for your help and a chat, Captain.

Thank you, Captain ! I will look into this.
Like I said: not a problem so much, since I found a way around to get the files to the folder with a detour, but it would be nice if things worked the way they are supposed to.
Thanks again
