AW2 – Courage 53

On the 25th of September 1993, a week prior to ‘Black Hawk Down’ or ‘The Battle of Mogadishu’, a so-called ‘Eyes Over Mogadishu’ Black Hawk of the 101st Airborne Aviation Regiment on a night time reconnaissance flight was hit with an RPG near the Villa Somalia or Presidential Palace. It made a crash landing near the New Port; three crew members were already KIA when the projectile hit the aircraft and engulfed it in flames. The pilot and co-pilot, although injured, evaded and fought for their lives, until an unknown Somali civilian led them to a UN armored vehicle that brought them back to the UN Headquarters. Meanwhile, the 10th Mountain’s ‘Task Force 2-14’ and ‘1-87nd’ were oblivious to the fate of the helicopter crew and were tasked to retrieve or rescue anyone they could find, and to secure sensitive items from the helicopter. Though modified for gameplay, this is their story.

Mission

1. Establish a perimiter around the crash site of call sign ‘Courage53’ and look for survivors
   
   
2. Escort any surviving crew members to a nearby UN armored vehicle
   
   
3. Secure sensitive items from the Black Hawk to prevent them from falling into enemy hands
   
   
4. Exfil your team with 2 HMMWVs back to the drop off point
   
   
   
   

Important:

• As soon as you reach the crash site, 2 HUMVEES become available to your team and, although initially restricted to where they are positioned at the crash site, will keep respawning for some extra firepower. You will need it
  
  
• The 2 HUMVEES are part of ‘the package’ that needs to reach exfil or rather the drop off point where your team started. Leave no-one behind
  
  

Notes:

• A lot of respawners were needed to save memory. Your time at the crash site will be limited to the amount of time needed toget the pilots to the APC, and there will be plenty of cover.
