@Coopwarriors: Since when did JO ever need more ports than 32768 ?? Except for Rcon maybe, but otherwise that was the only part ever necessary to get it passed the Firewall or Router.

if they don’t want any outsiders going on the server, they should just lock it. Sad to see that kind of behaviour. I am also an ex-quake2 player. Started playing on it on 33k dial-up connection. Those were the days…

I agree, with all you said. πŸ˜‰

Those were still the good times…

Dude, that soooo reminded me of my first (and last) try of CS:Source back so many many years ago. Myself coming from oldschool Quake kinda players, (and its kinda in our blood to hate CS ^^) came for a look when CS:Source came out. It lasted like 5 Minutes, then I was kicked & banned.

What happened was, i came into a Server, obviously not into all that shitty game, and it took me a long time πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ to “buy” the weapons in the beginning of each round (which is how you start every CS match). My “shopping” wasnt as fast as everyone else, so when I was done finally, noone was at the spawn anymore LOL …

So I went on walking, and of course, how could it be different, noone was to be seen. Everyone I came across was hiding behind a crate (essentially what CS is). Me, since I wasnt that kinda player, went on going. Didnt see no enemy either. At some point I came around a corner, there were two people hiding in a corner. They started shooting, i started shooting, not really aiming because i was so surprised people hiding there, they hit me (but not enough) but I killed both. It was a panic reaction, nothing else. After that, i got kicked and banned, claiming i was cheating.

And that was that moment, I knew why this game (as its different other versions since & before) is just as rediculous as I thought and in that moment I knew, why us Quake’rs hate it, and never came back to it.

Maybe not related to your problem, m8, but I thought it had a funny similarity. I hope you get your issue solved and can play again on that Server. πŸ˜‰

Using this Software (Free!), which I knew already from long ago (just didnt know it would work with games as well), it works just beautiful. Not to mention that I dont feel its any good idea at all, to give others your “real” IP.

That tutorial shows both, how to install the Server part of it (for those that want to host games from home) and the client, for those that just want to join. Sure, it might be a bit more to setup, but that tutorial is so simple to follow and just works great. Works with any LAN capable game I tested so far.

Thats odd, now that I am not with gaming anymore at all, now Tunngle goes down for good. Still had the lifetime membership ^^, guess i should sew them πŸ˜€

But really, its sad to see a great Service like Tunngle go down. They had millions of users, and deserved I think. But then it makes you wonder, with all the Ads that they had with the free license, and the I think quite many people with one of their memberships, you’d think that they could afford making the changes to their software that are required because of the European GPRD (if I wrote that correct).

Or was it rather something not so “ok” going on, that was underneath their software. Something that would have come out otherwise or/and would have required so much changes, that it wouldnt have worked with their concept of the Software. Makes you wonder. I doubt it was a money problem, or would have been so hard to change that they rather went away for. In a time where sharing user data is a hot topic, where companies like Facebook shit on the word privacy, its not that hard to believe that there were other motives/reasons behind a decision like this.

I mean, its a sad thought, given how good Tunngle was. Especially for Games like Joint Ops and other still LAN capable games, it was one of the better solutions (i even go so far and say it was the best, in my own opinion) out there and its sad to hear its gone.

I guess I stopped with gaming at the right time, considering things like this would have really upset me otherwise. BattleLAN never really got to me, it might be effective but its a boring little program. Not to mention that it requires giving people your real IP, i never liked the idea. But if its all whats left…

Other services like Game Ranger, Evolve and similiar are not a valid alternative, and are even worse when it comes to pay functionality. And the classic, Hamachi, stopped being good after they had been sold many many years ago. After that, it wasnt the same anymore.

Anyways, i hope you guys still find all the right tools to continue play this fine game over LAN, when the incredible πŸ˜€ Novaworld LOL goes off. πŸ˜‰

I never said that OldMan didnt do something great with NLH, there is no question about that. BUT, the way he went with the tool (knowing it would out of a sudden cost money, before everyone else knew it would just not work anymore without a paying license!) is what I cant really agree on that its commendable. He knew from the start that it would go that way, he programmed it to at some point not work for free anymore.

And with that, after years, the chances only added up that at some point all those requiring that license to work with it, would not be able to use it anymore, if for some reason (whatsoever) his system would not work anymore. Not a great move on his side !

Thank the guy who made that tool, thank him for both. 1) for making such a great tool, and 2) for creating it from the start (in contrary what he said about that) so that at a certain Version/date you couldnt use the tool anymore without a valid license. And since the people creating stuff like that arent around for quite a while anymore, at some point all the services that keep these things running, are simply gone and not working anymore.

So basically, if you put money into this tool, you’re screwed now. I dont remember anymore at which point (version) it was required to have that license. Older versions I remember still worked without, but lacked major features compared to the newer.

I always said it was a screwy business that came with that “sudden” license. Wasn’t his name “OldMan” or some like that ? Totally forgot all those things by now.

And I can imagine how frustrating that can be, now having a tool that doesnt work anymore, after you put a lot of work into a map or multiple maps. πŸ™

I doubt there will be an update, simply because there is no way to make it work, that I know of. That problem already haunted this Mod while I was still working together on this Project. If there would be a way, Captain would have found it already years ago. You can thank Nova for this crap. Like so many things they screwed up, thats just one the latest they things in a long list.

I cant remember a Favela map by Rickman, and I think I remember most of him still. Might be wrong, but man, thats so long ago, its amazing I still remember so many of the JO & AW2 maps. I guess that means we played that too much back then πŸ˜€

Told you already a while ago, Captain. If you build it, they will come. πŸ˜‰

You did it very well. I wish i would be still into doing websites, but i am afraid that interest is gone for me. Not doing much of any of the old things anymore. Once my PC is sold, whenever that maybe, there is not much with gaming left i am afraid. Mac’s ain’t really made for gaming as you know.

Let’s hope i have a some times to play left until then. It’s good to see that people are still coming here. I don’t really have contact with most of the people i knew anymore, times have changed over the years.

      But AW2 lives on, that’s important. 👍

      Hi Captain,

looks good. I am glad there are still people coming here and playing JO/AW2. Funny, how there are a few people, thinking its my fault that there are so few people left playing this game, because, and I quote, because I introduced some people back then to Β Insurgency, especially (as it appears) the map makers.

I wasn’t sure if I would be angry about a statement like that, but in the end I had to smile. JO & AW2 already had a lack of people a long time ago, there weren’t even so many Map makers that actually made maps, to even get people away from this Game or making maps for it. Not to mention, that its people’s right to try out other things and if they prefer that, they just play that or create content for that game.

Chief-C is the only map maker that really stuck with Insurgency, and the last I know he is now working (officially) for the Developers there, because believe it or not, he makes actually money from that and so can live. You know, priorities. So, to those that think that its my fault, there is a “bite me” and “lol“, take your pick. πŸ˜‰

I really hope you get that @Daggi.

I recently switched to MacOSx, and not really play anything anymore. I got other priorities in my life by now, but who knows, maybe I get JO working on MacOSx (not that it would take much to get JO running). πŸ˜‰

A big shout-out to Cap here, for his continued work on this fine Mod. Makes me feel nostalgic again. Its good to see, that there is still a place for AW2 on the Internet.

      Cheers
